Product performance
- The nominal thickness of the product will stabilise to its nominal thickness 24-36 hours after unpacking.
Do not store this product in its compression packaging for long period of time because it may reduce its intended performance.

FBS-1 Glasswool Insulation is classified as Non-Dangerous Goods according to the Australian Code for the Transport of Dangerous Goods by Road and Rail.
This Pack is for 450mm joist centres.
Tools For Ceiling Insulation: Stepladder, Lamp, Kneeling board, Cutting board, Sharp knife, Insulation poker about one meter long (to help place batts on low roof areas or limited access areas).
Starting The Job
- Take enough packs into the ceiling to complete the job.
- Lay the batts between the ceiling joists- use the poker to push batts into limited access areas
- Fit batts tightly between joists- do not compress batts
- Do not leave any gaps between batts
- Do not block the ventilation openings
- Leave at least 50mm clearance around the chimney or heater outlet
- Stand/ kneel on the ceiling joists only, place kneeling board across at least two ceiling joists to support your weight
- Start laying the insulation from the furthest point of the manhole
- Place batts at least 50mm on top of the inner wall, but do not cover the wall cavity
Electric Equipment And Cables
- Do not cover electric equipment and cables as they may overheat and fail to perform
- Ideally place electrical equipment such as transformers and cables on top of the insulation layer. Seek advice from an electrician for cases where cables or other equipment have to be covered (you will need to place spacers/covers between the batts and the equipment to allow air circulation).
- Do not place batts on top of down-lights mounted above the ceiling. Leave 25mm clearance between the fitting and the batts to allow heat dissipation.

Risk Information
This product has been assessed according to the criteria of the national occupational health and safety commission (NOHSC): NOHSC: 1008 (1999) and NOHSC:1005 (1999). As a result of the assessment this product is not classified as hazardous according to the NOHSC criteria.
Dust from glasswool may cause discomfort in the eyes and respiratory system, it may also cause skin itching.
Safety Information
- When handling FBS.1 glasswool, in enclosed or poorly ventilated areas, such as ceiling spaces, eye contact with the dust or fibre can be avoided by wearing ventilated (non-fogging) dust resistant goggles conforming to AS 1336.
- Direct skin contact can be minimized by wearing long sleeved shirts and long trousers, a cap/hat and standard duty gloves confirming to Australian Standard AS 2161 (Industrial safety gloves & mittens)
- When handling FBS-1 glasswool particularly in enclosed or poorly ventilated areas, an approved particulate respirator conforming to Australian Standards AS/NZS 1715 (Selection, use and maintenance of respiratory protection devices) and AS/NZS 1716 (Respiratory protective devices) is recommended.
Take the following precautions to minimise dust:
- Store glasswool as packaged in sealed bags
- Use hand tools in preference to power tools
- Clean up tools regularly by damp sweeping or vacuuming
- Wash work clothes regularly and separately from other clothes
First Aid
- In case of contact with eyes, rinse eyes immediately with plenty of water
- In case of skin itching, wash skin with soap and water
- If inhaled, remove to fresh air
- In all cases, seek medical attention if symptoms persist.
Disposal of Waste
- Follow the safety instructions above. It is recommended to collect all off-cuts and the dust by a damp sweeping or vacuuming and place the waste in containers or plastic bags. Dispose of the containers and waste material in accordance with local authority guidelines.
